Bill Self was one of the most well-known and wealthy basketball coaches. He was born December 27, 1962 in Okmulgee. As of December 11, 2023 Bill owns a fortune worth approximately $10 Million. In 2013, he was appointed to be the Kansas coach for the nation's most affluent rookie. He had been the Kansas coach since 2013. Self restored his team the Golden Eagles and was then hired to coach by Tulsa. Self spent three seasons (from 1998 until 2000) at Tulsa compiling an impressive 74-25 record. Self served as the head coach for Tulsa's Golden Hurricane in consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (1999 and 2000). In the 1999-2000 season as well as creating a record for a single season at TU in wins with the record at 32-5, Self led the Golden Hurricane to its first Elite Eight appearance. The school provided letters of recommendation all 4 years. He graduated in 1985 with a degree in business and in 1989 he received an athletic management degree at Oklahoma State.
